What made you decide to come and study Korean in Seoul?
I’ve always loved Asian culture and Asian languages. A few years ago I gained an interest in Korea and it’s only grown since then.
What did you know about South Korea before you came? (What was your image of South Korea before you came)
I thought I had a pretty good picture of Korea before I came but I was surprised when I got here. There’s so much more than you think.
Can you tell us about your time so far at Lexis Korea and Seoul?
I’ve had a great time at both Lexis Korea and Seoul. I’ve made so many new good friends and I’ve experienced a lot of new exciting things. I’m sure the next few weeks will be just as good!
What has been the highlight of your time in Seoul so far?
Obviously all the good friends I’ve made is one of the highlights of my trip but I’ve also visited a lot of new fun interesting cafes. Trying all the new food has been exciting and just taking part in traditional Korean activities.
Have you experienced any culture shock? (What is something ‘’Korean’’ that has surprised you)
The friendliness of everyone and that people are so outgoing and can come up to you on the street and talk to you even though you don’t know each other.
What will you take back home from this experience with you?
Memories. So many wonderful memories of this amazing time I’ve spent here.
Any advice for students who want to study Korean in Seoul?
Bring a camera, an empty suitcase, an open mind and be prepared to have a lot of fun!
