JTBC’s ‘꿀단지’ channel came to Lexis Korea and shot footage for a segment where ‘spicy Korean food’ was taste-tested against spicy foreign food.  Our students were interviewed in Korean by ‘꿀단지’ program presenters on their thoughts on the differences between the spicy dishes that they tried.

Needless to say the producers were impressed with the Korean abilities of the students and in how well they expressed which dish they thought was the most superior in taste and spicyness.

This is just one of the many programs that Lexis Korea has been involved with that have always led to giving our students an absolutely unique exposure to life in Korea.

Save the date!  The program is going to be broadcast on 22nd of Sep at 8:35am on JTBC channel.

Don’t miss it! 😉

And here is the program’s information!

Lexis Korea、

Samgyupsal (bbq pork belly) that’s cheaper than a caramel macchiato!

Mio shaking the lunchbox!

Mio and Chiharu from the Korean Class went to Donenu (도네누) in Gangnam for bbq samgyupsal (pork belly).
The free side dishes include seaweed soup, sangchu (lettuce to wrap the meat) and Pa Muchim (green onion and bean sprout salad which you wrap into the cabbage with the pork belly) all of which are all you can eat/self serve.
The girls also ordered gyeranjjim (egg soup) and dosirak which is a korean lunchbox filled with rice, egg and side dishes which you literally shake to make the ingredients mix together.

2 plates of pork belly later it was time to hit the cash register.
Now food in Korea is relatively cheap but we were not expecting this.

All this food for only 6800 won each!

Just to clarify, the food was very good and although the place was rowdy with everyone talking and enjoying their soju and bbq (as with any good bbq joint in Seoul) there was nothing in the food, service or atmosphere which was bargained.

So if your looking for a affordable place to have samgyupsal with friends why not try Donenu.

Donenu is a short walk from exit 10 Gangnam station (there are other locations as well)
