I will introduce my secret place to have experience about a part of Korean traditional culture. This place is located in Booam-dong and it is kind of gallery that we called “Ju Jib”. Korean use chopstick when they have meal and you can see many various chopstick at this gallery.
Let’s see special Korean chopstick that looks make bright feeling on the table at meal time. They open the gallery to provide and keep Korean traditional technique and environment for master craftsmen such as the typical varnishing with lacquer.
Sumac protect from injurious endocrine disrupter and they have got ingredient of sterilizing action and antibacterial materials.
And also there are many products made by lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl. This technique is used with shell and we called the piece of shell is mother-of-pearl.
They exhibit all chopstick what they made with various different techniques such as traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees, look like fork shape of chopstick for dessert table and vintage mood of chopstick. These chopsticks are only one and special limited design in the world.
And also, there is special space to have an experience using chopstick and trying picking up beans with chopstick. It is also hard to pick up beans for Korean even we always use it when we eat. 부암동에 위치한 젓가락 갤러리 “저집”이에요. 한국 사람들은 음식을 먹을때 젓가락을 사용해요.
이 갤러리에는 다양하고 특별한 젓가락들을 많이 볼 수있어요.
한국인의 테이블도 그림같은 밥상으로 만들어 줄 것만 같은 특별한 젓가락들을 보러가볼까요?
이곳의 대표는 옻칠과 같은 우리의 전통기술을 가진 장인들이 자립할 수 있는 환경과 문화를 만들어 주소싶은 마음으로 갤러리를 오픈하게 되었다고 해요.특히 옻에는 향균과 살균 작용을 하는 성분이 들어있어 유해한 환경 호로몬부터 우리의 몸을 지켜줄 수 있다고해요.
이곳에는 나전칠기를 이용한 제품도 많아요. 나전칠기는 조객껍데기를 원하는 모양으로 잘게 썰어 붙이면서 장식을 하는 기법으로, 껍데기를 썬 조각을 ‘자개’라고 부르기도 하죠. 이곳의 모든 젓가락은 공방에 있는 장인들이 하나 하나 오려 붙여 만든 세상에 단 하나뿐인 젓가락들이 많이 전시되어 있어요.전통의 소재인 한지를 붙여 특유의 한국적인 분위기를 살린 젓가락, 다과상에 놓기 좋은 포크모양과 비슷한 젓가락, 빈티지한 느낌이 물씬한 젓가락들 다양한 젓가락들이 있어요.
